About Me

One of those films that leaves you sitting in the movie theater just trying to process. Takes your expectations and perceptions and continually twists and subverts them in absolutely brilliant, engrossing ways. Kore'eda in top form!
Wholesome yet heartbreaking, "Robot Dreams" is a brilliant example of how a story can be told without spoken dialogue. It's a crime this hasn't gotten a wide release in the US yet!
This was one of the first anime I watched, and WOW. It starts off as a pretty basic "monster versus man," and then creates an absolutely incredible world and conflict. There's ultimately no clear good and bad side, and nothing is ever as it appears. Tense and brilliant, with incredible animation, writing, music, and performances, "Attack On Titan" is a must-watch!
I wasn't expecting much when I first started this, but ended up being pleasantly suprised. "Romantic Killer" starts off with a straightforward premise, then completely subverts it through its complex characters. Intelligent, beautifully animated, and hilarious, "Romantic Killer" is a commentary on the traditional romance genre, and on our modern perception of romance and friendships.
Really cute and funny romance anime! Although it falls into a lot of shoujou tropes and isn't quite as subversive as "Romantic Killer" or some of the other romance anime that's been coming out recently, it's a fun, relatively quick watch!
One of the rare remakes that actually surpasses the original, "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" is a brilliantly animated, hilarious adventure that gives even more depth to its source material and characters. Can't recommend it enough!

Honestly, this would have been better split into 2 or 3 seasons, because parts of it struggled with pacing. It would have been nice to get more development on a lot of the characters, especially on Lucy’s backstory. But the animation and action are gorgeous, and the worldbuilding is incredible.
It's still early, but I'd say Pachinko is easily one of the best series of the 2020s. Absolutely incredible writing, gorgeous cinematography and performances. "Episode 4" is easily one of my favorite episodes of TV.
Pretty scattershot and definitely doesn't take full advantage of its premise and characters, but pretty fun (especially when watching with other people)
I think "Nope" gets an unfairly bad rap, probably because of the acclaim of Jordan Peele's other works. Sure, "Nope" isn't quite as cohesive as "Get Out," but it's immensely entertaining and wildly original--something that Hollywood has struggled with in the past decade.
Yes, this is a competition show, but it's also suprisingly low-stress. Very cute and fun, with some incredibly talented bakers. Great show to just relax to after a hard day!
This isn't a groundbreaking film, but there's something very cozy and nostalgic about this movie. Great family movie, especially around Christmas!
Heady and fantastically weird, it’s easy to see the influence this movie had on “Inception.” Although it doesn’t quite have the emotional heft of Nolan’s film, it’s incredibly animated with an amazing, twisty story

Just as weird and wonderfully convoluted as Kon’s “Paprika,” yet more cohesive and emotionally mature. It makes a beautiful tribute to the legend Setsuko Hara, and a bittersweet commentary on love, memory, and the paths we choose.
Both intensely personal and universal, “Late Spring” is the second Ozu film I watched, and my favorite of his.
With the same sort of cinematic nostalgia as “La La Land” and “In the Mood for Love,” and a touch of Wes Anderson-style whimsy, “Amelie” is a thoroughly enjoyable watch.
“Triangle of Sadness” seems like it wants to be a biting class satire, and then a survival film, and kind of ends of being neither.
Obsessed with this movie--in my opinion, this is easily one of the best Kaiju movies ever made. It understands the spirit of the original "Godzilla," yet brings fresh ideas to the franchise!
