A delightful firecracker of a film with wonderful performances by Millie Bobby Brown and Helena Bonham Carter. While some parts of the narrative felt a bit slow or disjointed, the film really shines in its action sequences with troublemaker extraordinaire Enola. The overall plot could have used a tad more fleshing out (the ending didn't feel entirely satisfying) and Enola's family dynamics with her brothers could have been a greater focus of the film, but overall this is a fun, enjoyable movie to watch with friends, family, or just yourself!

Empire by

Well-intentioned if sometimes lacking in subtlety, Enola Holmes offers a fine, spirited reminder that a traditional story can always be retold — although it might need more refined teachings on feminism next time.

Slant Magazine by Dan Rubins

Even when the plot occasionally falters, Enola’s continuous invitations to complicity renew the film’s momentum.

70

The Hollywood Reporter by John DeFore

It successfully imagines a place for its heroine in Holmes' world, then convinces young viewers that Enola needn't be constrained by that world's borders.

75

IndieWire by Kate Erbland

Enola Holmes doesn’t just use its heroine as a cute way to nod at progressive thinking; it fully embraces a story that is, at its heart, deeply feminist.

IGN by Kristy Puchko

Enola Holmes, starring Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill, is a toothless Fleabag with Sherlock coating.

70

Variety by Peter Debruge

The movie has contemporary issues of gender equality on the mind — and an endearingly radical protagonist in Enola.

The Playlist by Rodrigo Perez

While Enola Holmes empowering feminist message might feel a little on the nose at times, the film, is nevertheless, a witty and endearing little bauble with terrific elan.
