About Me

A movie of such dizzy making ineptness, such profound incapacity, of such frank idiocy, such directorial inability as to make one wonder how such a disaster could have ever been released. Insulting to actors and audience alike. Just ghastly, with a double effect, since the fact that this utter piece of nonsense could be made, is all the more alarming since it means something else like this could be produced, too. Not dreary so much as keenly alarming.
This is, to put it mildly, a ghastly film, one that rapes the sensibilities without nourishing the values. It is an insult to the actors, the views and, above everything else it proves Ambrose Bierce’s comment that “Eccentricity is a method of distinction so shallow that only fools use it to demonstrate their incapacity.” Stunning in its ineptness, its clumsiness, and in its fat headed nothingness.
Imitative fallacy at best, incoherent at worst and a lot of it is incoherent…
A movie so silly that it is almost impossible to invoke the scale of its foolishness. Reviews say that it is magical realism, if that's the case, it is the version of it which is incoherent. In fact, magical realism, when done properly, has an over riding and charming logic. In this it is deficient in both charm and logic . Cringe making.
A ghastly, ugly, superficial and at the same time unbelievably insincere movie. It seems that Icelandic film, almost always sincere and dramatic (Rams, etc.) has been infected by the worst of Hollywood (no direction, no real drama, just going through the motions). Horrifying to think that Iceland has been infected with the US nonsense.

That this movie could be made, without irony, is one of the most embarrassing examples of an actress being so out of touch as to be almost deranged. That anyone expects us to watch Juliette Binoche portraying a woman who takes a job as a cleaning lady "to investigate conditions" has got to be on Zork. An embarrassment. If Juliet Binoche had one once of self awareness, she would have the sense to leave this alone. But this film is evidence that she is utterly clueless. A rich and pampered woman with a broom...sure, sure, I get it. Anti stars -*****.

It is hard to imagine a movie more inept movie and one more insulting to the viewer than this, an account of what appears to be a teenager so spoiled that she is scarcely believable, even by adolescent standards, and the really troubling notion is to think that someone thinks, or a film maker thinks, that someone wants to watch this Ninth Circle Of Adolescence. So silly, boring, nasty and at the same time a mint grade example of a boring cinema. Echoes, I guess, of Fellini, but very distant echoes and corrupt ones. Not horrible, but a step down to ghastly.
