Despite catchy animation and a few intense scenes, there's simply nothing here we haven't seen before.

The best way to watch it is with a loaded bong, the volume turned down and the Orb cranked up on your stereo.

The film deploys its disparate elements smartly, and director Hirotsugu Kawasaki can stage an action sequence with the best of them.

If you've never seen any anime, set your sights on fun and leave your hard nose for drama and fine dialogue at home.
