Katharina Blum, a housekeeper, falls in love with a man she spends the night with after meeting him at a party. Later, she finds out that he is an alleged terrorist and a wanted man. After her brief tryst to this man becomes public, she is harassed by the police, the press, and her neighbors, and must fight to maintain her dignity.
