On board a train bound for the port city of Le Havre, France, a railroad stationmaster jealously murders the man who seduced his beautiful young wife, Severine. When engineer Jacque Lantier also begins a passionate affair with Severine, she tries to entice the handsome stranger into murdering her controlling husband. Lantier, however, has a secret urge of his own that changes everything.
