Intrigued by tales of a mountain god, six-year-old Hotaru Takegawa loses her way in an ancient forest while visiting her uncle and encounters a masked forest spirit named Gin. Even after he leads her out of the forest, the two become close friends, with Hotaru visiting Gin every summer. As Hotaru grows up, however, other feelings begin to complicate things...
