i make home movies

home movie, c. spring 2021. to the exhilarating, thrilling head-rush of youth, and the people who were there with me for it. a lot of things got in the way of letting this film work. the camera was old and unreliable, the film stock outdated and unfamiliar, the viewfinder broke off a couple of months in, the events i was trying to capture were transient, the film was not always on hand and even when i ordered it it wasn't what i wanted (prompting an unintended black-and-white interlude), footage was lost in filming and flipping over film reels and processing and exposure and just about every single possible step of the way. what is left is most definitely less than even 20% of the originally intended footage, a capsule of visual artifacts rife with age and error as unreliable as memory itself.
