Rose is mother of two sons, Jean and Earnest. The trio arrive in Paris from the Ivory Coast in the 1980s, hoping to make a new life and a place for their family. Told over 30 years, the film follows Jean and Earnest as they grow up, always near their mother. Through the decades, a complex portrait of a family is painted.
