The staff of a rural health center fight maternal mortality, appealing to women to give birth in the clinic, but the obstacles are strong. Ambulances that come hours late if at all cannot be counted on to transport heavily pregnant women, so Hulu Ager decides to give birth at home, assisted by a traditional midwife.
