"Wendemi" would be a much more gripping film if it had a strong title performance. But Mr. Minoungou radiates little energy or expression. In the one scene, in which he required to weep, the two or three tears that drip down his cheeks seem to have been applied. The best performance is Mr. Komboudri's Son of the Man, a smug, cocky manipulator whose jocularity can turn instantly to hysteria and sadistic violence.
