L’affaire Soleilland, l’enfance assassinée

Paris, January 1907. Albert Soleilland is accused of an outrageous crime: the rape and murder of 11 year old Martha Erbelding. He soon confesses his deeds and soon the press reports every detail of the affair, like it´s a soap opera. While France at the turn of the century was close to calling for the abolition of the death penalty and finally drop the punishment by the guillotine, this crime turns the tide, supported by media. More and more the fuming people call for the return of the executioner, like he´s the chosen one to save the country from horrible crimes and after years without institutionalized killings, the heads start rolling again.
