Adelmo, a successful lawyer, is married to Esther, a beautiful dentist. They form an upper middle-class couple whose marriage is shaken by Adelmo's sexual problems. Not tolerating such a situation, the couple creates a curious ritual: once a month Esther goes to the same jewelry store and always buys a gold ring, which is given as a wedding gift to Adelmo who, in turn, will use it to buy sexual favors for his wife. Adelmo suffers from this ritual, but due to love and devotion to his wife, he tolerates it. Jewelry saleswoman Soraya also creates a ritual that revolves around the sale of the ring - each time she sells one of these pieces to Esther, Soraya goes out with her friend Fernanda to celebrate the feat. But everything gets complicated when Fernanda's brother Clayton comes into the picture.
