Cinéma vérité documentary celebrating the famous drag ballet troupe, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, founded over 40 years ago in the wake of the Stonewall Riots. The film combines behind-the-scenes footage and interviews centered around the individual dancers to give a holistic and celebratory view of this historic group.
Serious balletomanes will find much to appreciate here; people who delight in seeing the form lampooned will find more. These guys (among whom are three married couples) are gorgeous dancers, respectful of ballet’s 400-year-old tradition; they’re brash and funny, they’re changing the world, and they have power to spare.
