Epic and raw, Black Friday is cut from the same bloody cloth as "Salvador" and "Munich."

L.A. Weekly by David Chute

The movie would be all crisp surfaces without the internal combustion of Menon, as a man who bears down on familiar procedures in order to avoid being overwhelmed by his emotions.

60

Variety by Derek Elley

Despite its large cast and complex criss-crossing from past to present, the movie rarely catches fire as an involving human drama.

The Hollywood Reporter by Kirk Honeycutt

Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday is a superb and devastating piece of cinema that with justification can be compared favorably to Gillo Pontocorvo's classic "The Battle of Algiers" in its dispassionate yet sweeping journalistic inquiry into cataclysmic social and political events.
