Screen Daily by Wendy Ide
It’s a poetic picture which combines a dispassionate account of the lives of the brick-makers with a dash of magical realism.

Every night, Maher, a bricklayer, secretly builds an enigmatic mud structure out in the desert. He continues every day in spite of the grisly wound on his back that is spreading and worsening. As the people of Sudan start to fight for freedom and independence, Maher's sculpture starts to come to life.
We hate to say it, but we can't find anywhere to view this film.

It’s interesting work, though perhaps it fetishizes Maher’s enigmatic silence a little too much.
