A recently divorced father, furious that his nine-year-old daughter cannot spend time with him, takes her elementary classroom hostage with a gun and a birthday cake. As a hostage crisis ensues in this small town, the mayor tries to use the situation to gain advantage ahead of the upcoming elections and the classroom full of children grow restless in this dark social satire.
