Disgraced children’s puppeteer Philip returns to his childhood home of Fallmarsh, Norfolk. He intends to destroy Possum, a hideous puppet he keeps hidden inside a brown leather bag. When his attempts fail, Philip is forced to confront his sinister stepfather Maurice in an effort to escape the dark horrors of his past.

CineVue by Christopher Machell
Possum’s evocation of wrongness, that unbalancing feeling that something is off – if only you could put your finger on it – lingers long after its overdetermined climax has resolved.

In the end, there's little payoff for all the repetitive series of evocative visions and mute stares.
Variety by Dennis Harvey
If this wrap-up proves less than fully satisfying, Possum still casts an impressive spell.
The Guardian by Peter Bradshaw
This film induces a grisly shiver, like a slug dropped down the back of your neck, and there are some amazing images. But I wondered if it was finally unfinished and anticlimactic.
