Empire by Dan Jolin
A difficult film and one that's likely to offend in some ways. But as an elliptical, dream-logic infused visual poem, it certainly leaves a searing impression.

Elsa is the full-time caretaker of her son, Lauri, who has been comatose since being mysteriously shot. The locals are abuzz with rumors about who shot Lauri and why, but even in this tight-knit town where everyone seems to know everyone and everything, the world's clumsiest crime may go unsolved.
We hate to say it, but we can't find anywhere to view this film.

The Hollywood Reporter by Stephen Dalton
Mother is a crisp, sardonic, darkly funny mystery thriller with a claustrophobic feel that occasionally betrays its roots as an Irish radio drama.
Time by Stephanie Zacharek
Mother! is ambitious and dorky, like a Hieronymus Bosch painting redone as swirl-art. It’s entertaining to watch, because it’s not easy to see where it’s going — though you might feel a little underwhelmed when you discover where it ends up. The main reason to keep watching is Lawrence, receptive and radiant.
New York Magazine (Vulture) by David Edelstein
Most of the dialogue and effects are clunky, repetitive, second-rate. A minute or so of David Lynch’s latest Twin Peaks series has more irrational menace. For all its feverish activity, Mother! feels static.
