Known for its spectacular cinematography, the film gives a fictionalized account of the friendship and rivalry between professional freediving champions Jaques Mayol and Enzo Maiorca, from their meeting as children on a Greek Island in the 1960s, to their reunion at deep-sea diving competitions in the 1980s.
