It’s all a curious humanist experiment with anecdotal surprises and whimsy, but its motives aren’t in sharp focus like Doyle’s hotshot imagery.

A story of Hong Kong told by three generations of real people: 'preschooled' children, 'preoccupied' young people, and 'preposterous' senior citizens.
We hate to say it, but we can't find anywhere to view this film.

The New York Times by Ben Kenigsberg
More of a poem or a city symphony than a documentary, it drifts freely, sometimes frustratingly between captured and fictionalized moments.
The main problem with “Hong Kong Trilogy” is that it over-promises and under-delivers.
While Hong Kong Trilogy is ultimately an empty and unfocused misfire, it’s still rather watchable in its failure, thanks to Doyle’s remarkable visual approach.
Throughout, Christopher Doyle acknowledges that time and reality are often marked by a slippery subjectivity.
