Lily, a 150-year-old lovelorn vampire, finds love at first shock when she lays eyes on Herman, a 7-foot-tall green experiment with a heart of gold. Unfortunately, Lily's father has other plans for his beloved daughter's future, and they don't involve her new bumbling beau.
Ultimately, The Munsters is not a good movie. But it is great fodder to put on in the background of a Halloween party. It is best when used as a visual asset; something you may only want to catch a couple of minutes of dialogue from, but otherwise, it’s best left as background imagery.
What a baffling, misguided film.
As a love letter to the sitcom that so inspired Zombie as a child, The Munsters might be the most authentic-feeling television revival ever put on film, warts and all.
The Munsters is a wholesome labor of love that’s probably for the most diehard sitcom fans because for better and worse, Rob Zombie makes the Munsters reboot he wants to see.
