Before immigrating to the West, Abdallah travels to his old neighborhood in the coastal city of Nouadhibou to visit his mother. Unable to speak the local dialect anymore, and wearing western clothes, he no longer feels at home here, but he can't help feeling a sense of loss for the life he's abandoning.

We hate to say it, but we can't find anywhere to view this film.

Slant by Ed Gonzalez

An elegiac portrait of a transit city on the West African coast struggling against foreign influences.

New York Times by Elvis Mitchell

Takes you by the face, strokes your cheeks and coos beseechingly at you: slow down, shake off your tensions and take this picture at its own breezy, distracted rhythms.

BBC by Jamie Russell

A melancholic vision of life set in a remote outpost of humanity where the seconds and minutes tick by with deadening precision. Yet, scratch beneath the surface of this disjointed drama and you'll find an unexpected celebration of the happiness of community and friendship, a happiness that's so understated even the characters themselves don't realize that it has already arrived.
