It all starts on 1830, when young George Stephenson manufactures the first steam engine and the first railway networks are built soon after. Railway becomes a crucial factor in the development of trade and military strength for a country, with its ability to quickly transport soldiers and munitions. Railways expand rapidly in Europe and arrive soon in Greece. Our journey starts from today's Attica where the first networks are build and leads us to today, where we visit important railway destinations, such as the lines in the area of Northern Greece, the railways of Thessaly and the networks in the Peloponnese. Among other things, we learn about the engines and the rolling stock moving on these networks, about the history and the architecture of the stations and the crucial importance of the railway networks in the national struggles.
