In a small Arctic town struggling with the highest suicide rate in North America, a group of Inuit students' lives are transformed when they are introduced to the sport of lacrosse. Based on a true story, the film depicts the influence of the sport in the healing of young minds.
Though it's a familiar plot about kids learning discipline and teamwork through sports, The Grizzlies is brought to life through the specifics that make the characters and their sense of place — and of displacement — central to the story.
Like any good, inspirational athletic adventure, the film forges a strong connection with the human side of the story.
