Sugar Cane Alley(Rue cases nègres)

The island of Martinique is under French colonial rule in the 1930s, where nearly every native on the island works cutting sugar cane, barely making a living. The film follows the young José and his family, as he comes of age trying to study hard enough so that he can continue his education in the capital city.
