Based on the novel of the same name, this dark comedy set in 1944 follows Jakob Heym, a jew living in a polish ghetto, who, by coincidence, hears on a German radio broadcast that the Soviet Army is making progress towards Central Europe. After having trouble convincing his friends that the news is in fact real, Jakob lies and tells them that he gets news from his radio. While Jakob instills hope into his friends, he faces an uncomfortable moral dilemma.
