Based on the memoirs of Ingrid Falaise, “Monster” portrays the cycle of domestic abuse through the perspective of a young Quebecois woman named Sophie. After Sophie meets a handsome foreign student, M, she quickly falls for him, and they get married soon after. But as M becomes physically and emotionally abusive, Sophie struggles to escape.
