In Northern India, a change in law has made it so that widowed Santosh inherits her late husband's position as a police constable. While working on a murder case surrounding a low-caste girl, Santosh is unhappy with the sexism in the police force. Santosh ends up working with feminist inspector Sharma, who helps Santosh seek change.
