Naina Talwar, a medical student tired of her academic life, decides to go on a spontaneous trekking expedition to Manali. Here, she unexpectedly reconnects with three of her old classmates, developing bonds of friendship and love. Eight years later, the quartet reconvenes for a wedding. But have their relationships survived the test of time?
YJHD is about friendship, love, adventure, self-discovery, and so much more. Watching Naina decide to go on a solo trip to Manali was such an empowering moment for all the shy and introverted kids who are afraid to take a leap of faith, and even though it wasn't a main thread within the movie, I absolutely loved Naina and Aditi's friendship. Here's to the film that inspired so many couples to hold a destination wedding in the beautiful palaces of Udaipur.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is the second collaboration between Mukherjee and Kapoor! While I enjoy Wake Up Sid for its quietness, YJHD is amazing for its brightness and life. Each character is depicted wonderfully and their friendships and relationships make up the heft of the plot. The songs are fantastic as well. The title is an RD Burman song from the film Jawani Diwani (1972) which stars Kapoor's uncle.
