The present day. Sakurako is a TV assistant in Matsuyama. Her first assignment is to prepare a coverage of the local Russian military cemetery and of the life of Russian prisoners during the Russo-Japanese war. Her grandmother gives Sakurako the diary of her great-grandmother Yui, who was a nurse in the prison camp. In the diary she recorded the story of her love for a Russian officer Alexander Sorokin. It was a forbidden and impossible love. Even though the Japanese made many friends among Russian prisoners, there was no way to ignore the war and the conservate society. Sorokin escaped and doomed himself to eternal separation from his beloved. But in 2018 in Russia an unexpected discovery awaited Sakurako…
