After Ana gives birth at the local hospital, she discovers that she isn’t listed in the national register. Legally, she doesn’t exist, and Ana is quickly entangled in bureaucracy of Kafkaesque proportions. She is forced to leave her newborn girl at the hospital, and must prove her citizenship before her baby is declared an orphan.
