Following the phenomenal success of “The Threepenny Opera”, the film industry wants to win over the celebrated author. But Bertolt Brecht is not prepared to play by their rules. His concept of the “Threepenny Film” is radical, uncompromising, political, and incisive.
We hate to say it, but we can't find anywhere to view this film.

This is a great film that combines the struggles and legal issues Brecht (played by Larse Eidinger) had with his vision of a filmed version of The Threepenny Opera, with recreated scenes from his vision (with a fantastic Tobias Moretti as Mackie Messer). I first saw it on a Lufthansa flight. I bought a copy of the DVD while in Germany and play it on a zone free player. In German without subtitles.
