In this adaptation of a Klaus Mann novel, a singer heads to Zurich as the Nazis rise to power in Germany. After finding Switzerland dull and suffocating, she heads to Paris and finds work at a pirate radio station. As she wanders and works in Paris, she befriends other Germans living in the city.
