Emma is an 11-year old that lives in a small fishing town by the Chesapeake Bay who has an ear condition that her parents cannot afford to treat. Her father is an alcoholic, and has a strained relationship with her mother. One day, Emma meets a person in their small town that leads her to question absolute authority of the adults around her.
