The Sinking of the Laconia

On its voyage from Cape Town South Africa to the UK in September 1942, the British ocean liner Laconia is sunk by a German U-boat. The U-boat Commander then defies the orders of German High Command and attempts to rescue the passengers, who would otherwise face certain death.
