Lola is a cabaret singer in West Germany after WWII, looking to advance herself within the booming postwar economy. Her town is rife with corruption, and Lola uses her charm to pit a corrupt property developer against the new high-minded and principled building commissioner, all cogs in a town drowning in deceit.
