After Winter Comes Spring(Winter adé)

A year before the fall of the GDR, Helke Misselwitz travels from one end of East Germany to the other to interview women of all backgrounds and ages, including laborers, mothers, and intellectuals. This black-and-white documentary challenges the claim that gender equality flourished in East Germany and explores the intimate lives of the women living there.
