Featuring the voiceover of Sir Anthony Hopkins, this PIF from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society starts out rather innocently with beautiful hand-painted animation. It describes how once a year a large group of pilot whales swim to a small group of islands known as the Faroe Islands. The PIF quickly makes a dark turn, with graphic illustrations of the Islanders harpooning the whales and cutting them open with hunting knives while they are still alive – whilst the whales scream agonisingly as they lay dying in pools filled with their own blood. The PIF concludes that once the Islanders freezers are crammed full, the rest of the whale meat is let on the beach... to rot.
We hate to say it, but we can't find anywhere to view this film.
