1941, Vinyica. Hungarian troops seize the city. Local people are fleeing, but a lonely man waits for Hungarian soldiers and gets hired. István Keresztes, who was the chairman of the Tiszakövesdi Directorate in 1919 and has been living in the Soviet Union since 1920, was disillusioned with the communist regime and wanted to return home to his son, Gábor. During her fighting in Krivoj Rog, her daughter, who was raised in Keresztes, Moscow, Vera will be killed by her brother's brother, and with her father she will travel to Hungary as well. An atheist, spiritually-minded girl finds it difficult to fit into the life of the Hungarian village. He is secretly involved in the Russian exploration work, but his brother's death is a terrible conspiracy of conscience. Venice Film Festival 1942
